SEVENTH KEY (Frontiers Records/XIII
Bis)
11 tracks - Production : Mike
Slamer - Note : 9/10
Excellent ! Brilliant ! The first solo album of
KANSAS bass player, Billy Greer, features
some great musicians like Steve Walsh (keyboards),
Phil Ehart (drums), Rich Williams
(guitar) which are members of KANSAS, Steve Morse
(DEEP PURPLE and
ex-KANSAS on guitar too), Terry Brock (THE SIGN
and ex-STRANGEWAYS) on
backing vocals and the one and only, the great
Mike Slamer (STEELHOUSE LANE,
ex-CITY BOY, STREETS) on guitar, writing and
production. Billy is co-writring some
of the songs, plays bass and sing. He's doing
it perfectly and I think his voice is very near
Steve Walsh's one. Musically, it sounds like
STREETS, KANSAS (early 80's) with
Billy's personal touch. Every song is a jewell
with catchy choruses, nice backing vocals,
wonderful melodies and guitar solos (Mike Slamer
is, at my opinion, one of the best
guitar players of the planet and a great producer).
I have to say too that the SEVENTH
KEY album is much better than the last KANSAS
and Steve Walsh releases (sorry guys!)
All of the musicians included in this project
did their best and their professionalism is huge.
Billy is a brilliant artist and his album can
be considered like a Must. Buy it now !!! |
